Patriotic Crochet

In honor of Memorial Day, I'd like to share some patriotic crochet in red, white and blue. Above are two of my crocheted rooster potholders.

Below you'll find a patriotic bee hanger/decoration and some CD hotpads/coasters:

Patriotic dishcloths or potholders and a matching blue pot scrubber (below):

Lastly, a red and blue crocheted towel topper with matching patriotic cotton dish towels (L) and my recent patriotic additon, the tiny washbird scrubbie for dishes, face or body:

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone and feel free to read my  "We Remember You" Memorial Day post.

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

This so touched my heart Dear Doris and brings tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. Each year I go through this...as I should. Freedom comes with a price and we are blessed to have been born on this great continent of North America. It brings to mind my own Father who layed in the belly of a B52 bomber and was a tail gunner during the war...at 19 years old I cannot imagine what he must have been thinking.

Thank you for bringing this poem to light and for sharing it with us.

On a lighter note your patriotism really shows through with your delights! Love the potholders and hanging towels! You display them so nicely...

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Girl!
