We can all pray for the Gulf Disaster!
1. Tomorrow, on Saturday, June 12th, we are all asked to touch the water and pray. My friend, Akasa, is talking about this movement on her blog HeartSongs....
It's easy, just touch the water - any water, and pray with all your heart!
2. We can also help this way: Craft Hope's Project 8 is asking us to sew, crochet or knit hand towels, wash cloths, rags, etc. to help clean up the oil spill on the gulf coast. They don't have to be fancy because they're just being used a couple of times and then discarded, but since it's a carfting site, they need to be handmade. A simple solution for the people with sewing machines would be just to cut up old T-shirts and such and sew them into rags. There's more detailed information on the website.
Due date for this project is July 3rd, 2010, but please be sure and consult Craft Hope for more details.
Thank you and God bless you!

Hi Doris! Loved the beautiful song and video!.. Let's all pray? Absolutely! Count me in! ~tina
Doris: I live on the gulf coast of Florida it is so very scary..Thank you for posting this..By the way..My maiden name is Sturm! Glad to see other Sturms out there..
it is heart breaking. Louisiana is my home and we have spent many weekends at Grand Isle and other coast locations. We even had a shrimp boat years ago and shrimped for pleasure out in the gulf. The Gulf Coast has so much to give and has given so much to its residents and visitors, we need to do every little bit we can to give back. Thanks for the links to help, Doris.
I've been praying like crazy...I like the idea about the crafts..I hope they get this under control!
A friend of mine started collecting hair from salons, and used nylons, to send to the gulf for cleanup via matteroftrust.org. You can look them up. It seems, however, that they've gotten a lot of 'booms' made to clean up the oil but for whatever reason they are not being used. They're just sitting in a warehouse, at least last my friend heard.
Since the items CraftHope is calling for are being used to clean animals, it looks like they will actually be made use of which is good to know. I know this particular site is calling for handmade but I wonder if other places are just taking whatever rags people can give.
