R.I.P Sweet Prince

I'm very sad and discouraged for my world feels a little more empty and lonely. Turns out the video I showed you was our last Sunday Morning Stroll together.

I had not seen Mr. Bloomers (aka, The Blue Prince) for a couple of days. You have to understand that he thought he was my cat for he came to my front porch every night and every morning to get his meals and often came inside and even slept in the bedroom during cold nights in the winter. He was part of my life.

When I didn't see him for two days I knew he was seriously injured or dead because he visited me like clockwork. I found him in the bushes yesterday morning and I suspect that the free-roaming hunting dogs have been at it again - like last year when they came through here killing several of our community cats - and now Mr. B is one of them. I tried making him a housecat, but he would not have anything to do with that, especially with Gizzy in here who hates cats. One time, when I lured him in with food, he jumped through the screen window and popped the screen right out. He felt trapped indoors and was simply not happy being inside. I know when you love strays, there's always a good chance you will get your heart broken more than once because strays simply don't live that long, especially not here where dogs roam free, especially dogs who are trained hunting dogs who work in teams. My friend Bobby-Jack came and took Mr. B. to bury him for me. I am not a happy camper today...I suspect there may be some more cats missing since I only saw the three young ones at feeding time ...

When I told my neighbor Terri about Mr. Bloomers, she told another neighbor (that's how it goes around here) and that woman who is a known cat hater, said really loudly, so that I could hear it "I've been praying about those cats - and that's God's way of taking care of things!" Those are the kind of "Christian" people I live with - she's not the only one. My next door neighbor hates cats and dogs too and there is no reason for it. Mr. Bloomers was smart and he never, ever came to their apartments...he only came to mine briefly and he was out of sight all day because he was afraid of people and very shy. Can you believe that woman said that? Wonder what God she was praying to because my God loves his creations and he would never answer a prayer like that! Apparently she also possesses no compassion, because when you know someone lost a pet or something they loved, you don't tell them that you prayed about it being gone? I'm really ticked off at that woman now! I know two wrongs don't make a right, but sometimes it sure would be nice to get some "instant gratification" (if you know what I mean!)

Oh Doris... I am so sorry about your loss... obviously that woman knows nothing about how much a cat can love a person

I'm so sorry to hear about Mr Bloomers and how totally insensitive of the neighbor. I don't understand how anyone could not like animals. I agree that some can be a nuisance but I would never in a million years wish them harm.
I do know how you feel about the instant gratification, we may not get it but it's nice to think about it some times :)

I believe all animals have a place in the new heavens & new earth and so does CS Lewis. After all, God created them and that means they should be treated respectfully here too! RIP Prince! We'll miss you! :(

Oh Doris,I am so sorry to hear about your dear Mr. Bloomers!.. It breaks my heart, and I know how much you loved him. As for this neighbor of yours, I can relate with you, trying to understand this woman's interpretation of how God handles things. My best friend, who has been like a mother, sister, buddy, and an angel to me, all in one, belongs to a different religion than I do, different enough to drive a wedge sometimes if we let it; but thank God, so far it doesn't SEEM to, as far as I can tell for sure, anyways. It's just very strange to me, how her congregation/"brothers-n-sisters" can interpret something SO DIFFERENT from how the members of my church interpret the SAME thing from the SAME Bible! (well, similar Bibles, I guess??)... Anyways, no.. What your neighbor said, did NOT seem like the kindest Christian thing to say! If she didn't have something nice to say, she shouldn't have said ANYTHING at all!.. As for these "hunting" dogs, I'm a little surprised. In my neighborhood (although I suppose with the ever increasing population of pitbulls around here, maybe it's been deemed very necessary), there is an animal control unit that patrols regularly, and strictly. You don't find too many stray dogs, if ANY dogs, running loose around here. On that same note, I DO question the number of stray cats. What a shame, huh?... Well, I hope you find comfort in MY "interpretation"; knowing that God is welcoming Mr. Bloomers Home, where he'll be healthy and happy again, and where nothing will ever hurt him again. ((BIG HUGS)) ~tina

Oh Doris - I'm so sorry for your loss of Mr. Bloomers. ((hugs))

Your neighbor sounds like a mean person - no wonder she's alone.

Oh no Doris,

This is so deeply sad and utterly devastating. It never fails to amaze me just how much utter evil there is in this world. I can't think of anything positive to say other than keep your pecker up and remember that there are some good people in the world - not many but some :-)And you always bump into them when you least expect it.

Love to you and Gizzy :-)

Doris, I am so sad to read about Sweet Prince. The Creator of the universe did create a beautiful world for us to enjoy. All God's creatures great and small are our concern in this fallen world. Blessings to you. DWH

Dear Sister...I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Bloomers. I'm sure he is looking back and acknowledging you as one of the 'good humans' as he crosses the Rainbow Bridge!!

Yes, people who show their hatefulness are hard to understand, but don't let yourself be marred by her negativity. You show much more love of the Christed One!

Who owns the dogs who hunt the cats? Something should be done about them I would think. I know it is survival of the fittest in the animal kingdom but if someone is just letting their dogs run rampant that is another story, indeed.

Sending you love, hugs and prayers Dear Heart and know that Mr. Bloomers loved you!!!

Oh Doris, I am so sorry for your loss.
People like your rude neighbor probably aren't really believers of any faith but just attenders of a notion of religion. No one with a kind heart and loving spirit would ever think, let alone say something so cruel and hatefilled.
Let her comment move through you not live in you. Otherwise you allow her to win a moment of thought from you and she is not even worth that.
Be well, think of how special your time was with your "not an indoor" cat friend and know you enriched his life and he yours.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!
I am so sorry for you and that poor prince who had no chance against that cruelty.
If I lived close to you I would pay that nasty "Christian" lady a visit! And explain to her some things.
My gosh get out of that backward area Doris. Hope you can move up North soon and have nice neighbors.
Don't know what to say here I am just so angry and feel so sorry for you and those poor defenseless kitties..................

Big comforting hug from me.....:(

Just heard about the "Blue Prince" from Marianne... I was hesitant to read your post because I am so affected by any kind of cruelty...especially when it harms innocent animals.

I am crying tears for Mr. Bloomers and for you, dear sweet Doris. Your ignorant neighbour may be praying to the same God....but believe me, he is looking at her in a far different way now. A God-fearing person does not wish pain or death on ANYONE...human or animal.

How I wish I was close by so I could come over for a coffee and give you a hug. (Just tried to ring you, but no answer....I am glad you and Gizzy are out.)

Sending prayers and love....YOU KNOW YOU gave the Blue Prince a longer and love-filled life than he would have had on his own....his death was so cruel....but he did KNOW LOVE thanks to you. Always remember this.

Love and hugs,

♥ Robin ♥

Oh Doris, I'm so sorry for your loss! It's never easy to lose a loved one and I know you loved Mr. Bloomers deeply.

I can't believe how cold-hearted and insensitive your one neighbor is.

I am so so sorry about Bloomers. I remember being amazed at your great big wide heart for those stray cats. Bloomers was definitely your cat. And I want to say your neighbors are a bunch of jerks. God does NOT take care of things like that, in that way!! It is so sad that that lady thought so.

Some animals CAN be a pain in the butt, but you know what? so can some humans. They're just like us. Your insensitive neighbor is a giant pain in the ass, that's for sure. But you don't see people going around praying for her death? Good riddance.

I am SO sorry for your loss. I truly am.

This is a sad, sad thing. The loss of a living being that you cared for and about and the insensitivity of another person to your loss. I hope you are doing well today. So many people have you in their thoughts.

Dear Doris
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Sweet Kitty Furbaby who was a big part of my world for 13 years a few years back. It broke my heart. One of the things that brought me comfort during this sad time was this poem I was given....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies who has been especially close to someone here on earth, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. The animals all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then together, you and your special pet cross the Rainbow Bridge.

...On a final note always remember Furbabies may only be with us for a short time but they leave paw prints on our hearts forever.
Tina =)

I am so sorry Doris for the loss of the grey prince!! Your neighbors have no heart, and don't know the love they are missing from having pets as friends. I am sure it is very hard for you right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you dear friend.

Oh Doris I just read about Mr. Bloomers. ...My prayers and tears are with you.
He is a beautiful cat....did you notice that it looks like a mickey mouse head on his paw....the two ears and circle for his ear...I thought that was sooo very sweet.
In my town the animal control officers patrol for all animals at large....and they give people free cages to catch the cats for him...My dad set out a cage and my mother when he wasn't looking set the cage off where nothing could be captured.I blame the owners
The sad thing is, once a dog kills, he continues.
My husband use to be a full degree cat hater.....IT MADE ME SO VERY SAD....HE WAS A DOGGGG MAN...7 years ago we took care our son's cat...he was changed in an instant.
We have/had 2 feral cats we fed and provided shelter for but little miss grey was found across the street...we don't know if a dog got her or a car. She looked just like Mr. Bloomers. HOBO won't come inside but he thinks our back yard is his domain.
You sure miss them especially when they are killed and do not die of old age.
Animals were taken into Noah's ark 2 x 2....God loves his precious animals including cats.
hugs

Liebe Doris,
