A walk around Lake Irma

Yesterday we had interesting weather - sort of an April kind of a day. The sun was playing peek-a-boo with the clouds, which made for a very busy sky. When we started out it looked as if it were going to rain (and I didn’t bring my rain coat.)

but Gizzy pressed on wanting to walk

DSCF0232 DSCF0231
so walking we went, no matter what the sky

There’s lots to discover around the lake, especially for a little guy like my boy. The water was a bit choppy because we had a decent breeze.

The sun kept trying to break through – and here come the duckies…I have not seen Victoria, the goose, the last few times I walked, so I believe she may have decided to move on…perhaps to find some of her own kind.

Gizzy, the big, bad duck herder! He makes sure they go back into the water and I let him because I do not want them out in the street where the cars drive by too fast.

Good thing I watched where I was going to sit…there was a bee on my chair (rollater) – while Gizzy keeps exploring!

I found some pretty Paperwhites along the way!
DSCF0265DSCF0269
…and some more ducks found me. I gave them some kibbles as well. They all know me by now and come when they see me (in spite of the dog.)
DSCF0272 DSCF0290
I found a good place to sit and groom the boy. He loves to be brushed/combed especially under the chinny-chin-chin!
DSCF0294
I took this photo from the boardwalk – I like the way the clouds reflect in the water!
DSCF0295
same here!
DSCF0296 DSCF0299
After we crossed the bridge, we sat down again and Gizzy had a good drink of water!
DSCF0309 DSCF0319
Someone drove up that got Gizzy’s attention and a bit later, the wind picked up as you can see by his fur.
DSCF0346 DSCF0348
I saw a little bird on a tree branch that fell into the water – and further down a white Egret stalking his prey (sorry, my zoom lens does not have much zoom!)
DSCF0354
On the home stretch, the sun was out again and the water glittered the way I like it the best – diamond chips dancing on the water – just lovely!
DSCF0359DSCF0360
I saw these Camelias blooming, cheering up the otherwise gloomy landscape.

That concludes Gizzy and my little adventure. I had to post this via Windows Live Writer because Google tells me I have used up all my 1 GB picture storage space and now I have to purchase more – has that happened to anyone of you yet? Are you paying for more storage? I would be interested in finding out before having to pay for posting more photos on Blogger.

Also, what I have noticed is that when I go back and edit this post in Blogger and adjust the picture size, the quality of the images are compromised when enlarging them - they are not as clear!  I will go back and edit the photos in Windows Live Writer instead!

OK, this is what I have learned today: I'm out of storage in Google and I have to buy more storage, instead, I have posted this in Windows Live Writer. Images enlarged in edit mode on Blogger get blurry, but reducing them in edit mode do not. Therefore, make the photos in Windows Live Writer LARGE and going back to edit them in Blogger to Medium works better. UNLESS you configure your proper picture size in Windows Live Writer from the get go and then you don't have to go through all that editing stuff. I will try that next time.

Any input you have concerning similar experiences, please let me know!

Happy weekend...and don't forget to enter my Giveaway!

Those boardwalk shots are just beautiful. We are almost out of storage space too, but don't know anything about that Windows writer you mention.

Gizzy looks wonderful - his coat is so nice. Did you ever get that second opinion about his lumps?

Oh Doris, what lovely pictures! I feel like I took the walk with you and Gizzy. It is so windy here in MD that I couldn't walk even if it was warm...Thanks for the virtual adventure.

Dear Doris, don't you just love, love, love this weather? I feel truly spoiled this year with how cold it has been. I am soaking it all up so I can remember it when it's hot and humid again... Your boy looks wonderful!!! Love, Silke

I love this post, and thanks for taking us on the walk with you. Such pretty paperwhites, we have none here. I've never seen any around the area! LOVE the white egret!! I was just in a similar looking place yesterday and saw a blue heron on the shore, my picture looks like yours! I've known several people who have run out of space, but most have paid to get more. You can do it other ways, but it is more trouble. One friend just started another blog and brought all her followers over with her, that is an option. You can just start another one with a different name and sign in. Leave a link here on this one guiding everyone to the new one.

Doris, what gorgeous pictures. I felt like I was taking that walk with you ... wouldn't that be fun? Thank you for such a pleasant tour. I've heard before of someone running out of storage for pictures and happy you figured it out as I would have no idea what to do. Have a wonderful weekend.

I loved your walk with Gizzy today Doris! I love that lake! Course you know me and water, lol!
It just always feels so serene looking at your pictures.

Yeah, I have been hearing of others saying their photo space is at an end...but I wouldn't know how to take care of it. I will keep my ears open and if I hear anything I will let you know.

Thanks for the wonderful walk! Give my Gizz a hug and one for you too Beautiful One! :)
xoxo

Hallo Doris,

Lake Irma is beautiful and it's a lot bigger then I imagined.

And Gizzy - is so so so sweet and cute - loved him getting groomed under the chin and the wind blowing his hair.

Love,

You and Gizzy had a beautiful day. Love all the pictures, it looks so pretty. Can't wait for it to start getting nice around here.
I haven't run in to the problem yet of running out of space but when I do I won't pay for more space, I'm cheap like that...lol
I guess I should start figuring out how to use windows live writer

Oh yay! You're so lucky to see bees this time of year :) And I remember from last year that I'm usually just about a month behind you as things begin to bloom, so hopefully that means just a few more weeks for me without flowers of some sort. Yay! I should have planted camelias so I had something nice to look at this time of year.

Regarding storage space- once in a while I go into the Posting section of blogger, into Edit Posts, where you get a list of alllllll of your posts. Sometimes I go in and delete old posts that I feel are no longer relevant. You can also go into your Picasa album, which I guess Google sets up when you have blogs? And either delete or shrink some of the pictures in there.

I have been anticipating the day when they notify me that I've used up my storage so once in a while I try to go in and delete stuff just in case! Good luck!

Hi Doris, Have you ever resized your pictures before on your blog? This makes a huge difference with space. My pictures are usually anywhere from 500 to 600 pixels in width whereas straight from the camera they can be as much as 3000 and more. The resize photos for example could be 87.0 KB but the original a little more than a MB. This really adds up. You really should not need to purchase more storage. The videos on your blog use up a very large portion if it is included in the 1GB. Maybe you could delete some older posts or some you would not miss to free up some space. You could go back and resize pictures if they have not been already. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions, let me know.

Forgot to say...the pictures you put on your blog are automatically stored in Picasa. If you switch to another photo hosting site such as Flickr that would give you new space to continue uploading photos to Blogger.

Doris, I want to add one more thought...in Picasa, it shows the percentage of space you've used up. I'm just above 3% of usage for my blog. If you do go back and resize or
delete pictures this will give you a good sense of how much space you are saving. Again, hope this helps.
