Early Spring

This weather here has been fantastic!!! Sunny days (73-82 F) blue skies with white, puffy clouds, a gentle breeze, birds chirping and my first sunburn... on my nose, of course (ouch!) We are basically having Easter weather without the green grass.

If this keeps up we'll have summer here in another two months and I'll be confined to house arrest - not fun! This is why I have not been blogging very much... I'm outside, spending hours upon hours with my boy by the lake or at the park enjoying the great outdoors while I can...while there are still not very many pesky bugs out - although, I did get my first mosquito bite already!

My friend/neighbor, Terri, Gizzy and I went to Roquemore Park last weekend and took some fun photos:

I love these little violets growing around my apartment. Apparently, they are self-seeding and are popping up everywhere...only, they don't have much of a scent and I miss that.

When I stepped out the back door one night to take a few evening and full moon photos, this bird flew right in front of my camera and boldly sat there in that tree watching me...

Tomorrow, I'll walk to Roquemore Park in the morning to photograph some blooming trees with pink/lavender blossoms!

I also have been crocheting up a storm making keyhole scarves and fingerless mitts for my daughter in California. I have to hurry and send them on their way before it gets too warm.

Happy President's Day!
(Washington's Birthday)

Also, if you have not entered my February Giveaway, you have until Wednesday, 2/23/11, to do so!

Good for you enjoying the good weather. We have had a few days of great mild temps, but the cold will be back tomorrow. We loved all those photos, especially good to see one of you and Gizzy.

Have a great week.

We had 3 days in a row that reached the 50's which is warm for us right now. However it's back to cold since yesterday. Enjoy your beautiful weather

What lovely pictures, a nice variety of what's going on in your world right now. Your bird is a mockingbird. Our weather has been the same as yours, it's wonderful!! Although I don't like the bugs and spiders and flies that come out.

Ok, just like glor, I want to visit you and leave all this snow behind! Thank you, thank you, thank you for including pictures of the sweet little violets!! Unbelievable that it's so warm there and the grass isn't even green yet! Glad you are still having fun. Loved your post about the Senior's Valentine Party! What a great event and so rewarding! Blessings1

Interesting pictures - does Gizzly like the playground? Your friend looks sweet and so do you! :ove the violets. I don't blame you one bit for having fun outdoors. The summer is too hot down there to stay out. Love, sandie

Great photos Doris. I do not like the intense heat of summer gut prefer spring and Fall. I had to work outdoors for the past few summers helping out my brother in his blueberry fields...it felt almost deadly at times.

Beautiful pictures. The weather here was beautiful too, just really windy. But I took today to rest some. I have been so busy. Hey I have a question. I thought I joined that Pins and Needles but evidently I didn't. How do I become a member and what do I do?

Oh Doris, LOVE your photos, and you all look like you're having so much fun!!.. We "Yankees" can only imagine still. We had a beautiful day just a couple of days ago, but the temps plummeted right back down again, with icy cold winds to boot!.. But we're hangin' in there, just hoping Spring will come soon! It will be nice when we can take Ubu on walks again!... Meanwhile, I just signed up for the Celebrate Oz event! Saw about it on your side bar, and it sounded like fun! Looking forward to it! ~tina

Hasn't it been just gorgeous?!? We are expecting temps in the mid to high 70's today and I just love it without the humidity. No mosquitoes here yet (at least none that have bothered me), but the gnats sure come out with the warmth. Oh, well... I'm still enjoying it!! My love to your and Gizzy! SIlke

Mosquitos already?

Yeah for spring time temperatures! It was in the low 70's here this weekend and it was glorious! I love the pictures of your "Veilchen". ;-)

Thanks for sharing all of your pitures. We have had a little sun here but it is still pretty cold outside. I forget that many in other parts of the country spend summer inside with air conditioning. I love violets and enjoyed your pictures.
