Update on Gizzy!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and concern for my boy. The Vet called me on Friday afternoon informing me that his thyroid levels are very low and he's going to put him on a supplement. So now I'm giving Gizzy a Synthroid twice a day and he'll get another blood test in 60 days to see how the medicine is working for him.

The Vet said the hair loss may be from the thyroid problem or it may be an allergy, but we are going to take this one step at a time and are treating what we know is wrong. Gizzy is doing fine and sleeps a lot under the circumstances. In the summer he always sleeps a lot because there is nothing to do. We can only go outside for a couple of hours in the mornings and then we're pretty much locked up in here.

I was thinking of getting him a little friend to play with, but it's a decision I have to take very seriously for a number of reasons, so I'm not going to rush into this. It's just something in the back of my mind.

I apoligize for not having visited and/or commented much lately, but I have to confess I've been on FB and every time I go there, I get sucked into it for a few hours, so it's best for me to just not turn on the computer when I'm on a schedule. Besides, I think I'm starting to get into trouble over there and have to cool it a bit LOL

Have a lovely day everyone and a great week ahead. I'll be visiting all you guys very soon. Today and tomorrow are serious crochet days since I was unable to do much due to my impaired wrist and forearm that seems to be doing better...still no news about my blood work yet, but I will keep you informed.

Before I go, I wanted to share one thing that I saw on Facebook that really touched me because it also applies to my blogging friends, who have been so faithful, forgiving and nonjudgmental towards me:

"Someone asked us how we can love friends who we've never seen! We said... We have never seen God, but we feel Him! We love Him, and He is in our heart! That's why we love you! To our friends on Facebook and Blogger, who we do not know in person, but we love dearly in our hearts!"

I love you, guys! (and Gizzy does too) woof-woof!

Thank you for sharing that quote. I've been struggling to explain why I love my blogger friends. You just gave me the perfect explanation!

I sure hope the meds help Gizzy. We are like you, and trapped indoors because of the heat late in the day. I think we will all feel better when Autumn arrives! Hope your wrist won't bother you and you can get in some crocheting.

Glad to hear Gizzy is doing well. One of our cats is on thyroid meds. He's hyperthyroid and he really needs the meds - it's very bad! We tried surgery once and his thyroid grew back. So now he gets meds twice a day - he's been on them for years and does well though.

I hope Gizzy's new supplements help him to feel better and that his ear hair will grow back.

Aww, that would be great to have a friend for Gizzy to play with! I have two dogs for that very reason! When my kitty died a few years ago, Shiver just HATED it when I had to leave him home alone to go to work. I felt incredibly guilty and wasn't ready for another kitty so along came Chico.

Glad your wrist and forearm seem to be feeling better. I hope they heal up soon and that you won't have any more problems with them.

I used to be almost obsessed with facebook, I was on there a LOT after work. And then one day, it kind of lost its appeal. I still play around on there once in awhile but not near as much as I used to.

So glad your Gizzy is on meds to help fix what's wrong. It's no fun to have a sick puppy! Thanks for updating us! All the best!

Goodness, I have missed so much ... your wrist and forearm, didn't know, certainly hope that continues getting better and little Gizzy needing more meds. Well, now we're just gonna keep you both close in prayers. Take good care. Enjoy your crocheting.

So glad to hear that you and Gizzy are on the mend. I know that those of us living in the heat and humidity will feel much better when it cools down.

Doris what a PERFECT answer for why we love our blog friends or how we can love them so much - THANK YOU.

Old Gizzy is sure cute - how he gets his thyroid levels up.

Oh no!!! I hope this isn't the beginning of the end of your blog! I have a friend who finally got so hooked on Facebook that she just stopped her blog! It can happen. I can sympathize with Giz because I am on the same thyroid drug! He may sleep less and have more energy now!

Liebe Doris,

Mariette

We have our paws crossed that things go well for Gizzy. Thyroid meds usually work quite well. We bet you will see a nice improvement. Hugs to you.
