Surviving the Vet (a post by Gizzy)

Hewooo fellow doggy fwiends, it's me da Gizzy!

Mommy took me to da Vet's today because I needed a few things, but especially because my right ear is turning black and losing its hair and we just can't have that!

See?

It doesn't hurt or itch, but mommy doesn't like it and if I could see it, I wouldn't either ;-)

I met some nice doggy fwiends in da waiting room. There was a kitty cat in the carrier, but she was veeewy quiet.

Mommy calls the next picture "The Evaluation" (whateva dat means!)

When it was my turn, mommy cawied me in and I was put on da scale. I weigh 10.3 pounds today.

Then we waited a little longer in another woom until they took me away again...

This time to trim my nails and to take some blood because Dr. Hobby wants to test my thyroids.

After we got my Heartgard and Comfortis, mommy gave them almost all of her money and told me she didn't really need another dog because I can keep her broke all by myself ;-)

We said bye-bye to da only doggy left waiting and I was out the door - zippity-doodah, double-quick!!!

So now we're waiting for the blood test results and hope da doctor can figure out what's wrong with my ear.

Mommy bought me some consolation pressies, some Pup-Peronis, one of my favorite snack goodies and a stuffed toy...a black and white kitty cat, see?

I can't wait till I feel more energetic so mommy and I can play tug-o-war with her! Me loves to chase da kitty cats!

Mmmm...something smells good! Mommy's cooking me a little cube steak and peas and no, I'm not spoiled at all, just loved!

P.S. Mama told me to tell you she also got some blood drawn yesterday to check for arthritis and see what's going on with her left wrist and forearm. (The PA didn't think it was carpal tunnel syndrome like mommy suspected.) Mom's on Keflex (antibiotic), Predniosone (steroid) and Mobic (anti-inflammatory) pills to see if it helps. Meanwhile, she's also waiting to hear back about her blood work like me.

Looks like mommy and I do everything together - even the ouchies!

Sweet Gizzy, I hope test results for you and your mommy will be good. You need to ask mom if she would write a book about you. It could be published by Blurb.

Sorry you had to go to the v.e.t. that's never fun. But at least you got treats out of it. I never get treats when I go to the vet. Hope you and your mommy both get good results from your blood work

Gizzy, you were a very brave pup to go to see the vet. We hope they can find out what is wrong with your ear. We have never heard of that before. And poor Mom, our Mom's mom had terrible arthritis and Mom has a touch of it. We hope the meds will help Mom a lot. Paws crossed for a good report from the tests.

Your mommy is on some strong medicine! I hope she eats some yogurt with the anti-biotics to replave the good bacteria that they kill. And I hope to find out both your test results soon!!

Wow, I've never heard of a doggy getting a black ear and losing hair on it. I hope the vet can figure out what's causing it and that it'll be all better lickity split!

I just had to take Shiver to the vet. He and Chico aren't very well behaved there though, they think they need to say hello to all the other dogs and cats there and they do it very loudly.

I'm sorry you had to get blood drawn too, Doris. I hope it's nothing too serious and that you'll be good as new very soon!

Hope the tests can figure out what's wrong!

And I hope they can fix you up as well! I was on Mobic for my IT band for a week but I had to go off. It really messed up my stomach. I don't handle NSAIDS very well - I had told my doctor, but he didn't listen to me. Sigh.

Gizzy you were very brave and you sat so nicely in the waiting room...when we go into the vet's to buy Drontals and get weighed I want to look at everything and fidget on the weighing machine, I am a bit bigger than you - I get 17kgs when I stand on the scales...the Human says I should follow your good example of how to behave!!! Hope your ear gets better soon and that your Mummy's arm is getting better too. Woofs, Jindi
