In memory of Gizzy, my little boy with the fly-away ears. He was my inspiration, my muse and my best friend on four legs.

Super Size Me
I watched this movie for the first time yesterday and I tell you what: it was an eye opener and a half. A lot of these things I already knew, but it's something else to see it in action. I feel fortunate to have inherited my dad's love of fresh produce and believe that in spite of my weight problem, I am healthier than if I ate junk food, fast food and drank sodas. I never got into the habit of snacking on chips and stuff and generally am not into sweets. Give me a pickle any day!
Since my hip replacements (and back problems) I've not been able to move like I used to and the lack of exercise is catching up with me. Therefore, I seriously have to trim my portion sizes way down, because I discovered that one can get fat on healthy foods just the same.
I would encourage anyone to watch this movie. It's very interesting, informative and funny at times.
Super Size Me, the movie. Just click and watch it on Hulu for free (it's a safe website!)
So, good luck and good health to us all!
Lastly, for your viewing pleasure, watch Saturday Night Live's Taco Town and ROFL (if you can)
To me that taco looks just so gross...it would be like eating a newborn...yuk! (look, he's even ogling and holding it like a baby!) What's next? Oh, yeah, a heart attack!!! We don't need any natural disasters to wipe us off the face of this earth because we are pretty good at killing ourselves with all this overconsumption, aka gluttony!

I watched super size me a few years ago......funny we where talking about this tonight saying that how much we disliked food chains. Tom and I eat very healthy diet and we both could stand to lose a few pounds so yes even on healthy food you can be over weight and I believe for me it is due to lack of exercise. I have chronic pain due to IC and it makes it hard to exercise regularly.
I know exactly what you mean, Gloria...I started walking more. I use a rollator, because I need to sit periodically for my lower back, but for the most part, I can move ok, and my Gizzy uses it too because he can't make it around the lake with his short little legs and I end up pushing him home ;-) (he's so rotten!)
I haven't watched it yet, but I know exercise is good, and portion size is good. It is important to eat slowly most people finish their meal within 20 minutes and it takes our brains about that long to know we are eating.
I never got into eating slowly because I don't like cold food, unless it's meant to be cold. I don't like lingering over food either... I got rid of my dining room set because I needed the room for my computer desk - so I pretty much eat wherever there's room. I live alone, so ceremonial meals are pretty much out for me, but as a family I believe eating together at the table is important. It instills good eating habits for the children.
