Walking Buddies and Pears!

Today I got up and at them in time to walk down to the lake with Gizzy to meet my walking buddies and their dogs. I've missed them for a few days because I've been just too darned tired (or lazy) to get up that early to face the humidity.

On the way there, I spied a bunny that was hiding in the grass just like mommy taught him.

You can find a lot of bunny rabbits hopping about in the early morning and later on in the evening. I've been leaving apples and pears out on the lawn for them.

Gizzy, the investigator, at his familiar stomping grounds.

It's 7 am and all is well...and here comes the water fowl!

I think this young Canada Goose is a male because I've seen him practicing his hiss! It was amusing to watch him swim by himself all the while hissing without apparent reason.

Gizzy watching the goose eat his grains that I poured out for him.

Eventually one of the Muscove ducks comes waddling along and has some breakfast too!

By and by, we see our walking buddies coming around the bend.

Look, Gizzy - here come our friends!

In the lead is Sophie followed by Tuffy and Molly (their humans are Sandi and Betty)

Hello Molly

Hello Tuffy

Hello auntie Sandi

Hello Molly's mom, Betty

Hello blogging buddies!

The journey continues with all of us walking together around the lake to where the pear tree grows that is loaded with fruit. I brought two bags so Sandi (who is 6 feet tall) can help me pick some.

Sandi told me she'll pick the high ones and I'll pick the low ones. In no time at all, we had two bags full and you could not even tell the difference on the tree - I wish more people would get some pears.

Gizzy and I went home with a big loot of pears!

My job this afternoon is to peel, core and cut them for cooking into a delicious tasting compote to store for the winter - isn't that right Gizzy? Right, mom!!!
