Moth Identification

For those of you interested in knowing what that moth was that I photographed the other day, I got an answer from my fellow Etsian (Bugman58) who has this really cool shop:

You should take the time to read his profile. He's such an interesting person. This is what he wrote about "my" moth (pictured below):

"...from the picture, shape of the wings and your description it is for certain a Hawk Moth in the family Sphingidae...also called Sphinx Moths. Very common in your area. Species could be (hard to exact Id from that photo alone) Sphecodina abbotti....Common name-(Abbot's Sphinx)

Isn't that interesting? I looked up some pictures of Hawk Moths and discovered there are many different kinds. For instance, I found these pictures of a couple of moths that look similar to the one I saw. The first two photos are of a Abbot's Spinx:
 

These two where listed under Poplar Hawk Moth:

Look at that face! Call me nuts, but I can totally see a teeny, tiny faery riding that sucker - gitty up buckarooooo.....ha, ha, ha!

Harvestmen, Pekingese and Moth

I went to visit my friend this morning. She lives in a house on a big lot in a woodsy area, which is why I like taking my boy over there so that he can run free. While we were conversing on her porch, enjoying the great outdoors, he, Mr. Gizmo, was whining at the front door wanting to go inside (go figure!)

She also has a well on her property and allows me to fill up my water jugs with wellwater for me and my pets to drink (yes, including my fish) and it tastes so good.

On the way home I took a couple of photos of these Harvestmen. Believe it or not, I used to play with those Daddy-longlegs when I was a kid growing up in Germany. I'd allow them to crawl up my arm and then pick them up and put them back on my wrist, just to watch them climb up my arm again - eeeek, I'd not do that  today!

When I arrived back home, I saw this clinging to the outside wall of my apartment right next to my front door. I thought it was fascinatingly creepy looking, so I photographed it. It looks to me like some sort of moth, only what kind? Does anyone know?

So much for my wildlife photography today!

Rock on!

I just found out that my liver biopsy revealed minimal liver damage and I'm in the clear for now - my GI won't have to see me for another year!  YEAH!

Well, I'll bee...

...how time flies! The year is almost half over and I have installed a Christmas Count Down clock. Sorry, guys, but if I am not careful, I'll be facing October with nothing to show for. This shall serve as a daily reminder for me to get busy with some serious crocheting. (NOTE: I have a little survey request for you at the end of this post.)

My friend, who makes reborn baby dolls, has already reserved her space for the "Flatlanders" arts and crafts festival that takes place in town every September (around Labor Day) and she's saving some room in her booth for me to display some of my crocheted things. I also would love to be a vendor in the Honey Bee Festival this year (first weekend in October) and will need a large inventory of crocheted bees, like these:
