Reading a post from my blogging buddy, Cathy, of Live well, laugh often, love much! has given me the idea of having a Seed Exchange on my blog. Even though I have already started sowing, a lot of you live in colder states or countries and have not started sowing yet...I started my own container gardening about a month ago and everything is popping out. I'm really excited about it and thought some of you may want to participate in this Seed Exchange. If all you have space for is just one hanging planter, it's enough to partake in the miracle of life - there's nothing like watching your seeds grow! I know the kids will enjoy it, even if it's just one sunflower seed...they are the simplest to monitor for younger children. My daughter always loved checking hers every day when she was small.
I have never hosted an Exchange or Swap of any sort, so please bear with me and by all means, let me know if I'm doing something wrong or if I can improve on this in any way.
To participate in this, please send your name and address to my e-mail (honeybeecrochet@live.com). I will send an e-mail to the chosen lady with your address. I will not give your address or e-mail to anyone else! Please type SEEDS in the subject line, so I know it's pertaining to this exchange. (NOTE for overseas participants! Please check out mailing requirements for sending seeds to other countries - I do not know the rules, so you will need to do your own research about that. Thank you!)
All you will have to do is find a card - or make your own - write a little note and put a package of seeds in it (or use your own seeds that you harvested). I will take names until next Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
On Thursday I will match you up with another blogging friend so that you can contact one another to decide if you want to keep the seeds a surprise or if you have any special seed requests (i.e. vegetables, herbs, sun or shade flowers, etc.) Sounds like fun? I can't wait to see what happens. It will get us all in the mood for Spring! (First day of Spring: March 20, 2011)
If you like, you can research the Growing Calendar on Burpee Seeds according to the planting zone so that the seeds you are sending are sure to grow.
