Strawberry Fields Forever...

I did it! I got some freshly picked strawberries from the strawberry field and I'm going to OD....if you don't hear from me in a few days, I've exploded LOL

(Mommy, what are these? I hope I don't have to eat them)

I'm so excited. I feel rich like a queen, a Strawberry Queen - here, try one!

I'm going to go back in a few weeks to get more. The field will be open till end of May. They charge $1.99 per pound if you pick them yourself and the ready picked ones are:

$16 for a flat (what I got)
$9 for a gallon
$2.50 for a quart

That's cheaper than the grocery store and best of all, super fresh!

  4. Oh boy do those ever look delicious. Glad you got to go. Fresh picked strawberries are always so much better than the ones you buy in the grocery store.

  5. Oh Doris! Those strawberries look wonderful! I wish I lived close so I could get some. There is someone who drives to Florida and picks them and brings them back here to sell. My husband has bought some in the past. She didn't come this year. My kids love strawberries and will eat half a flat in a day if I let them!

  6. Dearest Doris,

ENJOY those super-fruits; they're great antioxidants and just yummy. Especially when picked fresh.
    Have a lovely week.

  7. Mom wishes she were close enough to buy a few flats. She used to pick them by the flat in MA and CT in June. She is headed to Costco tomorrow to get some since they have the best tasting ones here - and even they aren't that good. Gizzy, we don't think you need to worry about eating them, Mom will be very happy not to share them. None of us pups likes strawberries, but Ciara and Thunder LOVE blueberries.

Enjoy those berries, have a bowlful for Mom.

  9. They are really beautiful! And so is Giz beside them. I'm thinking he won't have anything to do with them.

  14. Oh my, what a feast to be had! I love strawberries and I'll bet these are delicious. They use to grow strawberries on the farm by us but no more so now we have to rely on the stores. Enjoy.

  16. Hi Doris, I noticed your comments on a couple of blogs tonight and saw that you live in GA also. From reading your profile, we share many likes.

These strawberries look very good. A strawberry smoothie for breakfast would be a real treat.

    Nice to meet you!

  17. Liebe Doris,

    Lieber Gruss,

    Mariette
